A quick start for the newest version. Check Microsoft Store for the current Windows release.
Your first five minutes
- Start World Conquest or BUILD YOUR WORLD, or continue a named save. Choose your country for a new world; the UK is the default. First country preparation can take longer on older hardware; the WW3Z loading indicator stays visible.
- Use BUILD in your current place; FIND OPEN BUILDING LAND helps locate space. HOME and ARMY keep your selection, and building zoom stays local. Select a barracks, factory, military airbase or naval port to produce forces; F9 finds new units.
- Select friendly troops, vehicles, ships or aircraft, then open SATELLITE / F8. The wheel zooms within Satellite. Right-click a destination to send the original selected force; inspecting another country does not move your army. Choose VIEW CITY IN GAMEPLAY to enter an inspected place, or GAMEPLAY / Esc to return to your current region and its saved camera.
- For civilian craft, build a Civilian Dock in the City menu. Its controls create ferries and yachts separately from military ship production.
- For target practice, use PLACE ENEMY / DUMMY or the dummy tank and dummy ship build items. Dummies do not fire back.
One world, different scales
Connected land orders use admitted terrain corridors. Ground forces needing an ocean crossing move to a departure terminal, wait for their assigned sea transport to approach, embark and sail. Available naval capacity is required. Military aircraft park at an owned destination base; without an owned stand they stay airborne.
Choose GAMEPLAY or SATELLITE deliberately; wheel zoom stays in the current view. In Satellite, left-drag pans and right-clicking clear water sends a selected ship to an ocean coordinate. Country choices and detailed actions are under DETAILS; strategic launch controls are under TARGET / MISSILES. Follow, hold and resume apply to the selected traveller.
Detailed mapped streets are concentrated in supported regions. Worldwide operations and travel do not reproduce every street on Earth. Land orders cover up to 2,500 km per stage, with up to 16 independent journeys and 128 travelling original military actors. A full or over-budget route holds the selection and explains why; try a smaller group or nearer destination.
War, peace and exercises
Attacking or invading a country declares war with it. Foreign countries crossed on a land invasion also count; owned territory does not. Up to four opponent countries can be active. A fifth new war is rejected before ammunition or deployment escrow is spent. Previewing or cancelling an attack does not start a war.
Test units and placed practice opponents remain available for exercises. In combat, explosions can damage friendly units; Alt + left-click explicitly orders friendly fire. Peace mode blocks deliberate attacks. The UK-only DragonFire station and UK destroyer fit defend automatically within a one-mile game radius; no firing instruction is needed.
Roads, bridges and trains
Choose a route tool in BUILD, click its start and end, and inspect the placement preview. Shift-click continues; right-click or Escape cancels. Keep routes clear of buildings and active runways. Original mapped transport remains protected.
Choose RAIL BRIDGE to make a train-capable water crossing with a 32 m deck and gradual approaches. Lay tracks along its centreline, then connect stations. Tracks can also sit on a normal road bridge, but steep approaches hold service safely. Damage to a supporting bridge stops trains; repair restores a usable route.
Joined junction mouths clear their road paint and barriers. Grade-separated underpasses retain their markings. Use REPAIR ROAD / BRIDGE for damaged player infrastructure.
Driving and flying
DRIVE STREETS / HIGHWAYS opens mapped driving with your current driver and supported vehicle. A/D steer left and right; W/S accelerate and brake, Space brakes, F leaves when stopped, C changes camera and G changes GPS. On-screen bindings take precedence for the current vehicle.
UK automatic road orders use original public-road topology. The first cold route verifies a large offline graph in the background. US national highways and rail support manual travel; automatic junction routing is not claimed for that source.
Aircraft provide manual thrust, pitch, flaps, gear, takeoff and landing controls. Passenger journeys can use autopilot. V changes supported flight views; use the mouse to look around. The flight panel lists current bindings.
Nearby pilot jobs
Select your own civilian airport to see eligible short-haul international jobs. Choose the route and aircraft, then FLY JOB. Takeoff and landing remain manual by default. Complete the landing and enter the destination region to receive the payment once; returning early cancels the job. Free flying remains available.

Saved worlds and graphics
Existing named worlds are preserved. Older authored saves retain their own terrain; start a new geographic world for the updated country preparation. MY WORLDS provides named save management and confirms a selected world before deletion.
Enhanced graphics retain close-up detail. Performance settings limit distant decoration and background work. Dense mapped cities can still be demanding on older integrated adapters; a modern GPU is recommended. Use the same scene when comparing settings.
Ordinary game AI is programmatic and runs locally. Any optional external AI helper is separate and uses its own explicit data controls; see privacy.
